Translations & Voting

LangQuest is built for collaborative translation. A recording or source asset can have text or audio translations, and the community can review those contributions through votes and comments.

What can be translated

Depending on the project and asset type, you may see:

• Source text or source audio.
• Target-language audio recordings.
• Text translations.
• Audio translations.
• Comments and votes from other contributors.

Project owners can decide who is allowed to contribute or vote by managing project membership and privacy settings.

Add a translation

1. Open the project.
2. Open the quest or chapter.
3. Select the asset you want to translate.
4. Choose the translation option available for that asset.
5. Add text, record audio, or both.
6. Review your work before saving.

When working offline, your translation is stored locally first. It syncs to the cloud when your device reconnects and the project is published or already cloud-backed.

Vote on a contribution

Voting helps a team identify translations that are strong, unclear, or disputed.

1. Open an asset with translations.
2. Review the translation carefully.
3. Use the approval or dispute vote option.
4. Add a comment if your vote needs explanation.

Use comments for translation feedback, not personal criticism. Helpful comments explain what should change and why.

Understand vote indicators

LangQuest uses simple visual indicators to show translation quality signals:

• Approved contributions may show a positive indicator.
• Disputed contributions may show a warning or disagreement indicator.
• Vote comments provide the reason behind the vote.

Votes do not replace a translation consultant or project leader. They help the team see where consensus is forming and where review is needed.

Report inappropriate content

If you see content that should not be in a project:

1. Open the content.
2. Choose the report option.
3. Select the reason that best matches the problem.
4. Add any helpful context.

Use reporting for harmful, abusive, irrelevant, or inappropriate content. For normal translation disagreements, use vote comments instead.

Block users or hide content

If a user's content is not useful or is harmful to your work, LangQuest can hide blocked users or blocked content from your view.

Blocking is personal. It helps protect your workspace, but it does not automatically remove content for everyone else.

AI suggestions and transcription

Some projects may have experimental tools enabled in settings:

• AI translation suggestions can provide a draft suggestion.
• Auto-transcription can generate text from audio.
• Localized transcription can adapt transcription output for the target language.

Treat experimental output as a starting point only. A human speaker or translator should review it before it is trusted.

Good review habits

• Listen to the whole recording before voting.
• Compare the translation to the source content.
• Add a comment when a vote might be unclear.
• Avoid voting based only on speaker preference.
• Ask a project owner when a disagreement affects project standards.
